Life Update | May 2017

So I’ve been completely MIA for, like, ages. But here I am, (guess who’s back, back again… etc. etc.) getting ready to delight you with lots of new reviews, recipes and general musings, so welcome aboard. Whilst I can’t say I have any good excuses for my prolonged absence, it is due in part to the fact that I’ve been looking for (and applying for) a new job and looking for (and booking and jetting off on) a tropical holiday (and eating a lot of food).

So major life update number one, me and Michael ran off to Costa Rica and spent two weeks sweating our suncream off in the searing heat. We successfully avoided being maimed by crocodiles or poisoned by snakes and were able to spend time learning about Costa Rica’s progressive environmental policies – they plan to become carbon-neutral by 2021, and, fun fact: they were the first country in the America’s to ban recreational hunting back in 2012. I’ll dedicate a separate post to sharing some holiday pictures with you and chatting about our experience so keep an eye out for that!

Major life update number two, half way through our Costa Rican adventure, I got an email saying I had a job interview the day after I got back to the UK. Cue panic induced poolside interview prep. That’s clearly the best way to prepare for an interview, because lo and behold, I got the job! This means come the end of July I will be Newcastle based once again, writing, filming, editing, and getting paid for it, huzzah!

At the moment I’m busy planning the next couple of months to make the most of my time off. I’ll be heading to Edinburgh to cheer on my mum and sister in this years half marathon (you can sponsor them here!); then it’s off to London to watch Shakespeare’s Tristan & Yseult at the Globe Theatre; and come July I’ll be busy stuffing my face with delights from Unless Hardcore Vegan Catering and Yorica! at the UK Vegan Camp-out. PLUS, I’m waiting with baited breath for Grumpy Panda’s all vegan diner to open in Gateshead at the start of next month, check out their Facebook page and get excited!

What are you looking forward to this summer? Thanks for catching up with me ✨
