I won’t pretend to be any sort of makeup expert, but on occasion I like to put some effort into my appearance and one of my favourite brands to do this with is Lime Crime.

I came across Lime Crime by accident on Instagram, and was immediately drawn in by their liquid to matte lipsticks. Matte lipsticks are so much more durable than their glossier counterparts, which makes them perfect for lower maintenance makeup looks.

Whilst I wasn’t vegan when I first bought from Lime Crime, I’ve been so happy to realise that they are proudly both vegan and cruelty free – certified by PETA & the Leaping Bunny.

In various corners of the internet people seem to exist who’ve had real trouble with Lime Crime as a company, be it their delivery, their customer service, or the products themselves. However, I can honestly say in the couple of years I have been using Lime Crime products, I’ve not once had any issues. My deliveries (flying all the way from California) have arrived within a week every time and any queries I’ve had have been responded to immediately.

I’ve recently spent a little (read: extortionate) amount of money buying various new shades because I literally could not decide what I preferred, so I thought, when in doubt, buy them all… right?!
My go-to shade is “Cashmere” which can only be described as a sort of purple-beige-grey colour, dubbed by Lime Crime as “greige”. It’s neutral enough to be suitable in any day-to-day situation and special enough to be vamped up with a smoky eye and worn on a night out. I’ve also struck up a passionate love affair with “marshmallow” which is the perfect pink-nude I’ve been waiting for all my life.
+ As Lime Crime’s velvetine’s dry perfectly matte, it’s vital to make sure your lips are well moisturised before applying to prevent a flakey appearance
+ Apply in thin layers – and don’t overdo it or it will begin to look patchy
