breakfast in LONDON

This year I am basically an ACTUAL ADULT, having reached 21 years of age. In celebration of my 21st me and the fam ventured to good old London town to sample some foodie delights.

Having got up early for our 2 hour train journey from my mum and dad’s house in Sleaford we arrived feeling peckish and immediately set about trying to locate some brunch. As fate would have it, Vegan Life magazine, which I’d been reading on the train journey had a review of Mildred’s café, which is just a ten-minute walk from Kings Cross station, perfect! This is a completely vegetarian restaurant with plenty of vegan options to choose from.

Immediately inviting as you walk through the door, the décor is modern and open, and a counter is adorned with salads and pastries to whet your appetite. Check out their brunch menu here! Everything that’s vegan or can be made vegan is clearly marked. I ordered a banana smoothie and a bowl of makhani dahl, a rich and smokey lentil curry served with a roti paratha, what a perfect start to a day of birthday treats!

We all loved this restaurant, so much so that my dad even bought the Mildred’s recipe book! I’ll definitely be back to one of the Mildred’s restaurants next time I’m visiting London.

All filled up with fuel for the day it was onwards we went, to explore Borough market. Borough market is a foodie haven, even for vegans, once you get past the large number of butchery and cheese stalls – fruit and veggies GALORE!

Saving ourselves for our vegan afternoon tea we just had some refreshing juices to keep us going on the birthday adventure, which will be continued in the next post…
